Dr. James Long
Dr. James Long

James joined IOTA NanoSolutions Limited as a Senior Research Scientist in June 2005. He is involved in the execution of internal and external research programmes and has also played a significant role in the expansion of the IOTA NanoSolutions technology platform. Immediately prior to starting at IOTA NanoSolutions, James completed a six-month post doctoral role at the University of Liverpool which involved synthesis of organic and inorganic nanoparticles in supercritical fluids. In 2001, James undertook an EPSRC Ph.D. studentship at John Moores University, Liverpool, where he worked on the solvation of active enzymes in organic solvents and supercritical fluids including emulsion formation polymer synthesis and enzyme catalysed reactions. He obtained his BSc in Chemistry from the Herriot-Watt University, Edinburgh in 2000.
Dr. Tom Wang
Dr. Tom Wang

Tom joined IOTA NanoSolutions in August 2005 as a Senior Research Scientist. Since then he has been involved in further developing the suite of IOTA technologies and the delivery of the program for both internal and external research projects. Before joining IOTA NanoSolutions, Tom held the role of Senior Research Assistant, University of Liverpool, where he was sponsored by Unilever to develop the IOTA NanoSolutions platform technology. He performed detailed investigations on formulations, preparations and characterisations of organic nanoparticles. Prior to this, Tom completed a Ph.D. in Chemistry, from the University of Manchester in June 2004, specialising in colloid science, materials science, and membrane science. In 2000, he obtained a B.Eng. in Polymer Science & Engineering from Northwestern Polytechnic University, China and also completed an M.Eng. in Material Science & Engineering at the same institute. As part of the M.Eng. Tom undertook an industry led collaboration at Xi'an Aircraft Co. Ltd where he worked as an Assistant Manager and provided scientific support and analysis for technologists. Tom has also worked at Chengdu Aircraft Company, China, as an Assistant Engineer, focusing on the design, (R&D) and manufacture of Composites, Rubbers, and Plastic materials.

Research Scientists

Doris Angus
Doris Angus

In 2005, Doris joined IOTA NanoSolutions as a Research Scientist and is involved in delivery of the internal and external research programmes. Prior to this she was a research assistant at Unilever for two years where she helped with the initial development of the IOTA NanoSolutions technology. Doris obtained an H.N.C. in Chemistry from Liverpool Polytechnic (now Liverpool John Moores University) in 1974. Her employment has included research and teaching practical skills at Liverpool University and conducting elemental analysis of samples such as pieces from the Mary Rose vessel and Antarctic rock chips, which also involved working on a research ship in the English Channel. Doris has also conducted stability research on M.D.I.s for a pharmaceutical company in Runcorn, worked for SmartWater Europe (Birkenhead) in the research and technology area for security chemicals and also helped with chemical development at Contract Chemicals (Prescot). Immediately prior to joining Unilever, in 2003, she conducted N.I.R. analysis for Advanced Feed Fats Bootle.

Asha Essa
Asha Essa

Asha joined the IOTA NanoSolutions team in February 2007 as a Research Scientist and is involved in delivery of the internal and external research programmes. Immediately prior to joining IOTA NanoSolutions, Asha held the position of laboratory analyst at Eden Biodesign where she was involved in the analysis of validation samples to GLP/GMP standards. She has also worked as a Quality Compliance Laboratory Analyst at Eli Lilly and as a Formulation Development Chemist at Inyx Pharma. Asha has a first class B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Pharmaceutical Science from Kingston University.

Business Administration and Market Research

Iram Choudary
Iram Choudary

Iram has been a Business Administrator at IOTA NanoSolutions Limited since January 2007. She is involved in the development of the company's market research portfolio and also its public relations. Between 2005-2006 she was awarded a European Social Fund (ESF) scholarship for her Master of Enterprise in Chemistry (M.Ent.-Chemistry) degree. The M.Ent. involved a collaboration between Manchester Science Enterprise Centre, (University of Manchester) and IOTA NanoSolutions, during which Iram helped gain detailed market information on one of IOTA NanoSolutions’ key future product lines and carried out a scientific research project in a novel area of nanoparticle chemistry. During this period Iram was also a temporary intern working in the Unilever Ventures offices in London. Before interacting with IOTA NanoSolutions, Iram obtained a Masters in Chemistry, M.Chem. (Hons) degree, from the University of Manchester in 2005 and has previously worked in quality assurance at AstraZeneca.
